Sergej Kolgan was born on June 29, 1962 in Urechye town of Minsk region in a family of a serviceman.His preschool years were spent in a creative atmosphere - his father played the guitar, wrote poetry and sang well, his mother managed an amateur-talent group.In 1968 the family moved to Minsk. When he was 12 he began playing the guitar with his teacher V. I. Bratchikov at music school. He finished that school without attending classes in 1977. Then he entered Minsk College of Music, N.P.Koshelev was his teacher there. He had finished Minsk Music College in 1981 and continued his education at the Belarusian Academy of Music with his teacher V.A.Belyshev. During the years of education in Academy Sergej Kolgan had been working in the Igra v dozhd band founded by V. Kazbanov (composer) and became a prize winner of the 2nd National Youth Music Festival in Novopolotsk. For a long time he worked with V.A.Tarletsky successfully performing a duet in concert programs. Now he is a music teacher, songwriter, guitar composer.
